The Edmonton Opera's 50th season includes three mainstage productions, encompassing multiple varieties of operatic repertoire. Subscriptions start at only $96, and include a ticket to Richard Strauss' Salome, Johann Strauss' Die Fledermaus and Giacomo Puccini's Madama Butterfly. Based on Wilde's play, Salome is a psychological thriller and features Maida Hundeling in the title role, who returns to Edmonton after singing Leonore in Fidelio in the 2011/12 season. In February, the Waltz King's Die Fledermaus will be on stage, a bubbly operetta in three-quarter time. And finally, to close our anniversary season, we return to a version of the production that opened the Edmonton Opera in 1963: Madama Butterfly.
After 50 years of memorable operatic performances and innovative outreach programs, we still consider this just the overture. Purchase a subscription and join us for the 2013/14 season; single tickets are also available. As part of our 50th anniversary celebrations, parking at the Jubilee lots is free of charge during opera performances.
