Development Officer, Corporate Partnerships
Contract Position
Position Summary:
The Corporate Partnerships Officer will develop and manage new corporate donors and sponsors. Reporting to the General Manager, the Officer will be responsible for corporate prospect identification, securing new corporate partnerships and building this capacity within Edmonton Opera Association.
REPORTS TO: General Manager
Specific responsibilities:
- Effectively cultivate, solicit, manage and steward corporate partnerships to ensure maximum outcomes while ensuring the goals and objectives of Edmonton Opera are adhered to
- Understand and champion the corporate partners’ objectives in being associated with the Opera and work within the fund development department and with Marketing & Communications to meet these objectives
- Negotiate and develop agreements that accurately represent the scope of the partnership, accountability to the Opera and our stakeholders, and payment schedules
- Evaluate client satisfaction and outcomes for the Opera so as to determine appropriate changes for future agreements
- Work to achieve 100% renewal of all partnerships annually and establish individual plans to increase and/or diversify partner revenue and, where applicable, seek multi-year commitments
- Work with Board, General Manager and Development Manager to review partnership agreements and to develop annual action plans and budgets and track corporate partner revenue against the annual plan
- Maintain up-to-date relationship data for corporate partners
- Liaise with Board, General Manager and Development Manager on joint activities and prospect clearance
Skill Requirements:
- Proven ability to attract corporate dollars and to build new and long-term relationships with corporate prospects and solicitation volunteers
- Excellent planning, analytical, research and organization skills, with demonstrated success in running a corporate development initiative
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize, meet deadlines, lead multiple projects simultaneously, and work with senior-level executives
- Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy with strong follow through
- Solid experience soliciting and closing sales/donations
- Ability to think strategically and work independently in driving new initiatives or enhancing existing ones
- Proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Post secondary education in funds development, marketing, business, public relations, or other applicable disciplines
- Minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated success as a fundraising professional
